washington, dc?as the nation approaches the one-year anniversary of the super bowl xxxviii tragedy, an fcc study shows that millions of u.s. children were severely traumatized by the exposure to a partially nude female breast during the feb. 1, 2004 halftime show.. .
"no one who lived through that day is likely to forget the horror," said noted child therapist dr. eli wasserbaum.
""but it was especially hard on the children.".

that most guys in the borg were .
i mean, i don't know about you, but i remember countless times that situations would develop involving young to old men alike, where me and other non-dub-raised "dudes", would comment that.... what that guy (bro) needs is a good ass-kicking!
i mean a good old fashioned beat your ass whoopin... i mean learn some real "humility" at the hands of your "friends".
I would try not to get into confrontations with others. My experience was that there are other ways to handle situation without always resorting to violence. I am not saying I have not being in a few fights in my life time but it was only used as a last resort. There are ways of saying things that can get back at confrontational types without giving them an "Ass Whipping". If I always stoop to their level than I am no better than they are. Just my two cents worth....

rolling stone refuses to run ad for bible
I am not against the move as I am sure a conservative magazine would not hesitate to refuse running a liberal based add. Just wanted to throw this out for discussion.

rolling stone refuses to run ad for bible
GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan (AP) -- -- Rolling Stone magazine declined to run an advertisement for a new translation of the Bible aimed at young people, the nation's largest Bible publisher said Wednesday.
Zondervan, a division of HarperCollins Publishers, bought space in the magazine months ago as part of an ad campaign for Today's New International Version, said Doug Lockhart, Zondervan's executive vice president of marketing.
"Last week, we were surprised and certainly disappointed that Rolling Stone had changed their mind and rejected our ad," he said.
A telephone message seeking comment was left Wednesday at the New York headquarters of Wenner Media LLC, publisher of Rolling Stone.
Lockhart said Zondervan, based in Grand Rapids, paid Wenner Media last July to run the ad in February, when the Bible is due on bookshelves.
On Tuesday, USA Today quoted Kent Brownridge, general manager of Wenner Media, as saying his staff first saw the ad copy last week, and "we are not in the business of publishing advertising for religious messages."
Lockhart said the ad features the face of a contemplative-looking young man and includes this copy:
"In a world of almost endless media noise and political spin, you wonder where you can find real truth. Well, now there's a source that's accurate, clear and reliable. It's the TNIV -- Today's New International Version of the Bible. It's written in today's language, for today's times -- and it makes more sense than ever."
Media outlets that agreed to carry the ad include Modern Bride, The Onion, MTV.com and AOL, Lockhart said. AOL, like CNN.com, is a unit of Time Warner.

a friend of mine who is atheist gets all wound up when the subject of noah's flood comes up.
he doesn't rely on scientific discoveries or explanations to deny that the flood happened, he uses his own logic.
some of his statements(some of em are hilarious): .
The flood stories actually predate the bibles version, like the stories of Gilgamesh. They were oral stories that were passed down from one generation to the next. there is no doubt that these stories were based on some facts but it was only a local regional flood account that took in the known civilized world at the time. Over hundreds and thousands of years these oral traditions get stretched out of shaped till we come up with the present day account. These stories were analogical tales, not to be taken literally. There is so many details that cannot not be explained by this flood account.

i got an interesting reply from an elder friend when i admitted that i had issues with the wts.
i had listed the failed predictions, the changing doctrines and the mistakes made by the wts.. he came back with the examples of the israelites in the wilderness and under the various kings.
the nation of israel was still god's people despite their hardheadedness and sins.
My response once to an elder that told me the same thing was, if the WT GB is "spirit directed" by Jehovah and Jehovah is perfect, than the GB should not make mistakes. He also admitted that the WT has made mistakes i.e. 1975 but it was Jehovah's organization. I said, "what does that do to ones faith in an organization that is supposed to be God's "spirit directed" organization on earth and it makes mistake? and how many other mistakes are they making now? He did not have a response to those question. He kind of nodded his head while he was leaving my house.

a jw cousin of mine called my jw wife today and asked if i saw my new nephew from my jw sister.
my wife said "no, his family would never allow him to see the baby!
" (i'm da'd).
Thank you Watchtower for waking me up to my need to take responsibility for my life and to refuse being controlled by the cheapest form of emotional blackmail: Not talking to someone!
This is how I feel. Instead of being bitter to what the WT has done, I feel they did me a favour. The DFing did make me grow up and take responsibility for my own life. I empowered myself and I am now entering into a healthy guilt free relationship with a wonderful, intelligent, loving and caring woman. She understands and accepts me for who I am and doesn't try to mould me into something I am not. It has taken me over 40 years to find this out but it was worth the wait.

That was the last straw for me. When I was DF'd 10 years ago my ex tried to tell me I couldn't have too much to do with my 2 young children. They were about 13 and 16 at the time. I did get reinstated but only because of the conditions being put on my relationship with my children. I had to swallow my pride at the time and go along with the BS. Things do have a way of evening out as both my children see through the garbage and do not want anything to do with this mind controlling cult.

media's coverage has distorted world's view of iraqi reality .

I have always said the truth is somewhere in the middle. I don't believe everything the media tells me but I also don't believe everything those war mongering hawks, that only want to justify their war, say. It is tragic that the media has been muzzeled from reporting the truth about this war, which leads to inaccurate reporting. The US can't have it both ways. Either they allow free flow of information or continue with the propaganda on both sides that we are getting now.

Invading nations under false pretences is a tyrannical solution to any problem, which would make the US a....tyrannical nation.
